Rebecca with a child

It is beyond incredible to be a part of such a magnificent team and to have an opportunity to see God working here in Tuxtla. Tomorrow we will have been here for a week, and we have already seen the Lord do amazing things in bringing 40+ alumni and 84 first-timers to the Basic Seminar!! We are also working with 58 children in the Children’s Institute on 6 teams.

Rodrigo and Jeff

Our translators are priceless. Valeria has been a wonderful translator for me as I am involved in leading the large group assemblies and has helped me so much with the Spanish language. Rodrigo translates for Jeff in the large group assemblies, and they make quite a team—even their facial expressions and gestures match! Dr. Romero and his family are hosting the seminar at the church, and Mrs. Romero feeds us afterwards. She makes great food!!

Impromptu speeches

Today we finished up teacher training for the members of our team with an impromptu speech session. Each person had to give a one-minute persuasive speech about a random object handed to them by Jeff. These items included a rubber bouncy ball, safety pin, pen cap, live turtle in a plastic bag, M&Ms, raw chicken foot, Q-tip, ponytail holder, and an avocado!

Hannah with children

Tomorrow we plan to go to some kind of zoo with an aviary in the morning and will have the rest of the afternoon free for taking a nap, preparing for the Children’s Institute, or sending e-mails. Saturday we plan to travel to San Cristobal, where we will spend one night before heading out to the Children’s Institute at the Jungle Bible College.

Several students have battled stomach and sinus issues the past several days. Please pray for our health and strength as we face two very long days on Friday and Saturday!
