Our Jealous God Book
Now Available in Stores Nationwide
Last week, Bill Gothard’s new book titled Our Jealous God was released by Multnomah Publishers and is now available to purchase in bookstores and from IBLP’s Online Store. It is a fitting sequel to the best-selling book, The Power of Crying Out.
Our Jealous God explores an aspect of God’s nature that we seldom associate with a loving, merciful Heavenly Father. We might even feel uneasy at first with the fact that God refers to Himself as a jealous God. “I the LORD thy God am a jealous God” (Exodus 20:5). Discover why it is an honor to be the object of God’s jealousy.
The message of this book comes straight from Bill’s heart and life. In September of 2002, he understood for the first time that the Holy Spirit watches the “eyes” of our hearts, looking for evidences of delight in the attractions of the world, just as a wife watches the eyes of her husband when an attractive woman walks into the room.
God is jealous because He has established a covenant with every Christian through the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son—the Lord Jesus Christ. Allowing people or things to compete for first place in our affections causes grief and damage to our relationship with the Holy Spirit.
The motivation behind God’s jealousy is His overwhelming love and desire to bless us! He longs to demonstrate to the entire world the incredible things that He will do for those who love Him wholeheartedly.
