At the end of May, a group of approximately twenty ladies and their leaders, along with three mothers, gathered at the beautiful Northwoods Conference Center for a Journey to the Heart. The time included large group sessions, team discussions, and personal times with the Lord, with the goal of learning to hear from Him.
A sweet spirit and an openness to the Lord was evident among the women as they looked at some foundational truths for the Christian life and various heart conditions that can hinder one’s relationship with God. Several attendees shared how God showed them that they had believed lies. They learned that God was ready and willing to help them work through the fears they had. There was repentance from specific sins, and many of the ladies found freedom from bitterness when they forgave the people who had hurt them. One young person committed her life to the Lord on this Journey!
One lady shared how she had been trying to live the Christian life but found herself failing over and over again. During the Journey, the Lord showed her that it is impossible to live the Christian life in our own efforts; it is only possible through Christ. This truth was very freeing for her. Many in the group agreed that God revealed to them that the Christian life is only possible through Christ’s life in them.
Several young ladies said that they were just beginning to realize the importance of seeking God and meditating on His Word. How exciting it was to see so many young people hungry for the Lord—and God meeting them right where they were!
Three more Journeys are scheduled for this year: A Young Men’s Journey in Big Sandy, Texas, July 10–18; a Young Ladies’ Journey in Big Sandy, Texas, August 14–22; and a Young Men’s Journey at the Northwoods (Michigan), September 4–12. Visit lifesrealjourney.com for more information.
