In Memory of Shelley Hendry

June 8, 2021

Shelley Hendry loved Christian biographies and made history come to life as she shared the life stories of various women from the past. On Sunday, May 23, 2021, her time on earth came to an end when she was killed by a drunk driver.

Born and raised in Greensboro, NC, Shelley attended Appalachian State University, where she met her husband Jim, whom she married on January 28th, 1984. They went on to attend Pensacola Christian College together for graduate school and Bob Jones University for post graduate work, as well to serve as missionaries to Africa for a year. Jim and Shelley also raised six children.

Shelley poured her life into teaching, speaking, and mentoring the next generation. She loved God, her family, and her work. Self-titled Friend to Women of All Ages, Shelley’s passions included sharing Christ, the source of her Hope, with everyone she met; spending time with people overlooked by others; and sharing words of encouragement.

Through the years, Shelley spoke at many conventions, conferences, and workshops around the country. IBLP was privileged to have her share several messages, including “The Importance of Reading Biographies to Your Family,” “Living History Presentations,” “Shaping Trusting Hearts,” “The Life of Amy Carmichael,” “Two Portaits of Trust and Courage,” and “Fanny Crosby: A Dramatic Presentation.” You and your family will enjoy this excellent message, “Corrie ten Boom: A Dramatic Presentation.”
