Spiritual Enrichment for Young Ladies

July 18, 2017

Skills Training for Emergency Preparedness, or STEP, is a program designed to help enrich young women in spiritual and personal disciplines, physical fitness, and emergency skills that will prepare them to fulfill the calling God has for their lives. Thirty-six young ladies participated in the STEP and STEP Advanced programs from May 27 to June 3.

For both the STEP and STEP Advanced ladies, each day began with personal devotion time, followed by devotions with their teams or the STEP group as a whole. The activities and classes that followed covered different life skills, enabling the ladies to be prepared for anywhere that God may lead them. The heart of the STEP program is to help young ladies discover how God wants to use them for His kingdom. Besides the spiritual enrichment, STEP seeks to help these young women develop skills for reaching others in the Name of Christ in their homes, communities, and to the ends of the earth.

Some of the projects that prepared the girls for serving and ministering included volunteering in the ALERT sewing room and collating the books of John and Romans to be sent overseas. Both STEP and STEP Advanced traveled to Louisiana for a few days of disaster recovery and rebuilding. STEP Advanced spent some time in Dallas ministering to widows and orphans.

The STEP Program concluded with a final ceremony and banquet. At the ceremony, the ladies as a group quoted their Scripture memory from the month of training, sang some choral arrangements, and shared testimonies of how God had worked in their lives. This ceremony culminated a time of training that, it is hoped, challenged the participants to keep Christ as the Anchor of their souls and the center of their lives as they seek Him wholly. Please pray that the young ladies will continue to apply the lessons and disciplines they learned at STEP. What hope we have of God’s continuing His work in us and these young ladies! As Philippians 1:6 states, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
