The stated corporate purpose of the Institute in Basic Life Principles, Inc. is to introduce individuals to God’s basic way of life through the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Institute remains committed to this purpose and to helping individuals live out their salvation, received by grace through faith, and apply Biblical truths in their daily lives.
I consider it a great privilege to be asked to serve as interim president of the Institute in Basic Life Principles, a ministry that changed my life many years ago. My personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and the desire to advance His Gospel has grown because of my involvement with the people in this ministry for the past 27 years.
As the Institute goes through a transition, it is important to have a leadership team that can review the past, evaluate the present, and plan for the future.
“I was in prison, and ye visited me.” These words spoken by Jesus address a mission field that is often overlooked but one that is ripe unto harvest. A group of more than seventy volunteers witnessed the power of God to save and redeem as they participated in the Journey to the Heart held in three prisons in central Florida.
Isaiah 61:1: "...the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound".
Kristina experienced a heart condition known as atrial fibrillation, suffered from fibromyalgia for more than 15 years, and also experienced anxiety attacks, arthritis, and depression. The doctors had put her on more than twenty different drugs for a twelve-year span.
It has been awe-inspiring this year to watch the light go on in the lives of many young people as they go on a Journey to the Heart. When they actually catch a glimpse of the true reality of an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving God, their perspective of this life changes, never to be the same again.
The theme of this year’s Regional Conferences is “Living In Victory Every Day.” The balancing truths of being dead to sin in Christ and putting to death the sins of our flesh gave new hope and direction to the Christian life.
On April 1, 2013, a hand-selected team from all across the United States and Mexico arrived at the prisons in Ocala, Florida, to conduct a second Journey to the Heart in a women’s prison and first Journey in the nearby men’s prison.
The lives of twenty-four young people from the Philippines were so powerfully transformed on a Journey to the Heart during their visit to the United States that they wanted to conduct another Journey with other students in the Philippines.
