Fifteen young ladies from four different countries attended a recent Journey to the Heart at the peaceful Northwoods Conference Center located in the beautiful upper peninsula of Michigan. Their sole purpose was to spend this special set-aside time to seek the Lord and meet with Him one-on-One, and attend teaching sessions in small groups and all together. During the Journey, the participants were encouraged to heed the exhortation in Isaiah 55:6: “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.” The ladies spent time in the Word, learning to meditate on Scripture. The time was fruitful as they each began to meet with the Lord. 

Throughout the week, the attendees were taught how to recognize and remove those things that can distract anyone from wholeheartedly seeking the Lord. Following a session on the seriousness of complaining and the importance of giving thanks, one young lady said, “Praising the Lord . . . really changes the situation and how I view life, and even how I view God. . . .” Many of the ladies were freed from bitterness as they forgave those who had caused them pain. This freedom from the bonds of bitterness then allowed them to go deeper in their relationships with the Lord. 

One group session was on the powerful truth of “Christ in us.” The illustration shared with the ladies was that of a work glove. Just as we have been made in the image of God, so a glove is made in the image of a hand. A glove cannot accomplish anything apart from a hand. In the same way, we cannot live the Christian life apart from Christ. It must be “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).

Another participant testified to the work of God in her life during the Journey: “All week the more I was in the Word of God, the more I was just hearing the Holy Spirit talking to me. Throughout whatever I was doing, I would hear Him prompt me to do something. I could just feel myself being very sensitive to what He wanted me to do and where He wanted me to go. . . .” Praise the Lord for His work in each of these young ladies who attended this Journey!
