He must not hold grudges. He must realize that as God forgives us, in the same manner we ought to forgive others.

A lack of forgiveness creates bitterness, and bitterness is like the disease of leprosy. Those who have leprosy lose any sensation of pain. Similarly, those who are bitter are often unaware of how they hurt people.
A key to forgiving your offenders is realizing that God can work through your suffering to accomplish His purposes in your life. This understanding enabled many people in Scripture to forgive their offenders.
In a display of God's longsuffering, He spared the wicked city of Nineveh. However, one man was not happy with God’s display of longsuffering to the sinful Assyrians! That man was Jonah. According to Jonah 4:1, “But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.” If God was “long of nose,” Jonah was certainly “short of nose”! His anger waxed hot! He was angry at the Assyrians for their repentance. He was angry at God for His longsuffering and forgiveness.

The standard we measured everything by was, “What will people think?” No one shared openly about past or present sins and struggles. Thus, when I began to experience struggles and failures of my own, I didn’t dare tell anyone.
The most important decision we will make, after salvation, is probably the decision of marriage. It affects every area and every day of life! God has given each one of us a natural desire for companionship, yet there are essential lessons we can learn from His Word that invite blessing into our lives, regardless of whether we are single or married.
The enemy will do all he can to keep us from being open with our spouse about our sexual failures. Satan will convince us that confessing them will only bring hurt and confusion, that God has already forgiven us, and that they are sins of the past that have been dealt with. However, until we are open with our marriage partner regarding all failures—past and present—we will remain in bondage.
