Young Men Thrive at Quest 2016

October 11, 2016

Quest 2016 was a wonderful time of seeing young men ages 13-17 grow through mentoring, challenges, and learning to step up and take the responsibility of manhood. We rejoiced with seeing at least seven guys come to know the Lord as their personal Savior during their time at Quest. Many other young men saw areas of their lives that needed to be changed, and they began the process of putting to death the flesh and choosing to live for Christ instead.

The program this year consisted of class time and hands-on skills training. We focused on Basic Automotive, Basic Plumbing, Framing, Drywall, Basic Electrical, Cold Metal Working, CPR and First Aid, Search and Rescue, Navigation, Ropes and Knots, Rappelling, Finance Class, and Christian witnessing for our skills training. Then, in the evenings, we had speakers come and teach the young men on “The Six Pillars of Manhood.” These pillars are Priest, Protector, Provider, Parent, Partner, and Servant Leader. Through this instruction we were able to give the Quest participants a well-rounded view of what  Biblical manhood looks like in today’s culture.

We added a new course to Quest this year: Advanced Quest. The students in Advanced Quest were guys who had successfully completed an earlier Quest and wanted to study more about what Biblical leadership looks like. In their training the guys learned that our model for leadership comes directly from Christ, and that model is service. They had classes on How to Study your Bible, How to Give a Wisdom Search, How to give your Personal Testimony, Christian Witnessing, Apologetics, Etiquette, and Meal Preparation. After learning all these skills, the young men applied their classroom learning by serving as assistant team leaders for the last week of Quest.

We are grateful for your prayers and support during Quest 2016! To see more photos of Quest 2016 or to watch our Quest video, go to http://www.alertacademy.com/quest/blog/. Dates for Quest 2017: July 15 – August 11.
