This past year we have surveyed the attributes of God. We examined twelve attributes during 2024. By God’s grace, we anticipate studying twelve more attributes, one each month, in 2025. We hope that this overview of God’s attributes—the essential and permanent characteristics of His nature—has been and will continue to be edifying and encouraging for you and your family.
Here is a brief review of the twelve attributes of God that have been surveyed over the course of this past year.
January: Eternality
The God of the Bible lives outside of time. He has no beginning or end, and is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Because God is eternal, we do not need to fear the future.
February: Truth
Because God is truth, we live in a world undergirded by absolutes. We should reflect His truthfulness by our own unwavering commitment to truth in our daily lives.
March: Love
God is love. We love Him because He first loved us. A full Biblical understanding of the nature of the love of God should motivate us to love others as Jesus Christ loved us.
April: Glory
The heavens, the earth, the sea, and all creation declare God’s glory. Truly, God alone is glorious. Our response should be to glorify Him, the God of Heaven, Who is worthy of all praise.
May: Holiness
Holiness is an inseparable part of God’s nature. He does not measure up to a standard. He is the standard! Because God is holy, we as His children should be holy in every area of our lives.
June: Spirit
God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Our worship of God is not based upon sensory satisfaction but in a spiritual reality that outlasts the things of earth.
July: Omnipotence
Because God is all-powerful, nothing is beyond His ability. When we learn to rest in the knowledge that God is omnipotent, we realize that we have no need to worry or fear.
August: Omniscience
God is all-knowing. Just as there is nothing outside His power, so also there is nothing outside His understanding. We might not understand a particular circumstance, but we can trust that God knows and understands.
September: Omnipresence
Because God is everywhere at once, we have no need to be lonely. The remotest corner of the globe is filled with His presence and light. Thus, how can we be fearful when our Lord Jesus is with us at all times?
October: Goodness
O, give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good! Whether leading us beside still waters or through the valley of the shadow of death, we can rest assured that we are in the care of the Good Shepherd.
November: Unity
The Lord our God is one Lord. Because God is one, chaos and division have no place in the universe He rules. Therefore, we can trust and know that He has an eternal purpose for the universe.
December: Trinity
The one God of the Bible is eternally manifested in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. While we cannot fully comprehend the Trinity, we can confidently trust in our triune God!
Along with these aforementioned attributes, we also surveyed the lives of men from history who appreciated, trusted, and applied these truths in their daily lives. The goal is to continue studying an attribute of God each month and considering more historical persons in 2025.
In 2025, we invite you to continue with us as we look at these attributes of God:
January: Self-Existence
February: Immutability
March: Light
April: Grace
May: Mercy
June: Faithfulness
July: Longsuffering
August: Independence
September: Transcendence
October: Immanence
November: Infinity
December: Perfection
May our Lord guide you and your family into the new year with His light and grace.
