What does it look like to keep Jesus Christ truly central in our lives and in the gathering of His people? How can this lead us into deeper dependence, obedience, and faith? In this episode, we consider the life of missionary Anthony Norris Groves through Christ’s command, “Take, eat” and “Drink ye all of it” (see Matthew 26:26–27). Known as a pioneer of faith missions, Groves sought to order his life, ministry, and missionary work according to the Word of God, emphasizing the simplicity of gathering as believers around Christ, breaking bread in remembrance of Him, and depending upon the Lord rather than human resources. Through tremendous sacrifice—including hardship, uncertainty, disease, and the loss of loved ones on the mission field—Groves learned to trust the loving care of his heavenly Father day by day. His example challenges us to keep Christ at the center, treasure fellowship with His people, remember His person and finished work at the Lord’s Supper, and walk in daily dependence upon Him as we serve wherever He calls us.
