The ALERT Family Camp team was excited to welcome over 1,300 people for this year’s Family Camp held in Big Sandy, TX from October 8–15. More than 250 families from as far as California and Florida gathered to enjoy a week of camp together. Our S’more Family promotional brought over 50 new families to experience Family Camp for the first time with complimentary registration. This year families were encouraged with the Biblical theme that “Christ Has Overcome.” Losing perspective and becoming discouraged by politics, the economy, or personal struggles is easy. At Family Camp, each speaker directed campers to look to Christ in unique ways. ALERT leader Jesse Boulden reminded listeners that our only hope is Jesus. With striking memorable illustrations from the corral, skilled horseman Lew Sterrett demonstrated parallels in our spiritual walk and exhorted campers to pursue fellowship with Jesus our Master. Another speaker was Rick Green, who is a former Texas State Representative and current daily radio program WallBuilders Live! co-host with David Barton. Rick’s message delved into the pressures facing our society and challenged his audience to hold fast to the truth. Eric Ludy, president of Ellerslie Mission Society, motivated and inspired individuals to live committed lives for Christ, no matter the cost.

Besides the evening Camp Meetings, families enjoyed meaningful fellowship in the campground and during various activities—making new friends and reconnecting with familiar faces. Campers competed in volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, and fishing tournaments and enjoyed classic activities such as rappelling, rock climbing, archery, and horseback riding.
