Changing Times, Continued Blessings

An update from the IBLP Taiwan Office

July 29, 2024

The IBLP Taiwan Office was founded almost thirty years ago when we held weeklong seminars with thousands of in-person attendees. Although there have been many changes, the Lord has continued to bless with new opportunities. Now, we are holding weekly online courses, which allow us to connect with Chinese people from all around the globe. While the in-person numbers are down, we rejoice that we now have a farther reach than just Taiwan. Please pray for God’s blessing on the ministry that He is opening to us.

With recent economic uncertainty in China, the message of the Financial Freedom seminar has been especially impactful. During the ten-week course, people continued to register because of positive word-of-mouth testimonies. The affirmative reviews resulted in almost 100 attendees. Praise to the Lord!

Earlier this spring, Taiwan was shaken by a major earthquake on April 3. We praise the Lord for His mercy that only a few lives were lost. This event, however, affected our summer ministry plans. Our original location for our VOICE (Visualizing Opportunities In Character and English) summer camp was in Hualien, the epicenter of the earthquake. This disruption created a need to change locations, and God graciously provided a new location closer to Taipei.

A common trend among many of the students attending the summer camp was the need for building a closer connection with other Christian friends. Because of COVID, insecure students found safety and security behind their face masks.

One particular student spent much of her day wearing her face mask, primarily because she was insecure about her appearance. As she developed deeper friendships with her team members, she also became more comfortable with them and began wearing her mask less! By the end of the time together, she tearfully embraced her teammates and team leaders in their goodbyes.

Another student was homeschooled and had a number of questions about the Bible that had puzzled her for several years. As we spent time together discussing the meaning of wisdom, she shared how she was excited to finally get answers to some of her questions!

We praise God for the many deep friendships that were built over the course of the week through our small group learning times. Please continue to pray for God’s Spirit to move in the hearts and lives of the people in Taiwan.
