The ALERT Missions class had the opportunity to serve in the mountains of Mexico for two weeks last month helping the Tarahumara people. The men were able to serve the local community by making much-needed repairs on a community center and a home. They replaced the roof and added new windows to the community center, completing a weatherproofing project on the building. The community center hosts literacy and health classes for the Tarahumara in that region of Mexico.
They also had the opportunity to complete renovations on the home of one of the local women to help her better care for a family member with health issues. They added a cement floor to the two-room home, which required digging out the existing dirt floor, carrying sand up the mountain to her house, and mixing all of the cement by hand.
The two weeks gave the ALERT men a valuable look at the needs in other areas of the world, as well as providing a valuable cross-cultural experience working among an unreached people group. Please pray for the Tarahumara of Mexico, and for the Gospel impact of the work that the ALERT men were able to complete.
