Registration is open for our summer music courses, Sound Foundations. Join us this coming July 14–August 2! Sound Foundations offers a challenging and encouraging time of Biblical discipleship and hands-on music training. Come ready to be strengthened in your walk with God and also receive practical music training and instruction that will equip you for future opportunities.

Our staff has been praying and planning for these upcoming courses, as well as excitedly looking forward to meeting the students who will attend. We know that God has wonderful plans for each attendee’s life; what a privilege it is to watch as He uses these courses to work in lives!

Sound Foundations is a unique opportunity that offers high-level, quality music training with deep discipleship and community. The music instruction is given by instructors who are passionate about the Lord and desire to pass on their music skills and knowledge to the next generation. 

Designed for those fifteen and older who have had basic music instruction, the courses will take students to the next level in their proficiency and performance. Students receive excellent training in a broad variety of foundational topics, such as Music Theory, Hymnology, Music Pedagogy, Hymn Improvisation, Songwriting, Conducting, Orchestration, Music History, Choral training, how to lead a Children’s Choir—and that is just the music training! 

Sound Foundations also reaches both the heart and soul as shared in the following testimonies.

One student, who felt she was doing well in her performances, shared how the Lord used a team leader and others to work in her life.

“I thought I had done pretty good . . . in my interactions with others. I read my Bible and prayed pretty much every morning! Although I got stressed with the day-to-day assignments and tasks, I thought that I had still been a good ‘Godly’ example to my teammates and to those that I interacted with.

“At the end of Sound Foundations, I began to talk with one of the team leaders. Our conversation started out nice and shallow; then, and I don’t remember how, it went deep! In a loving and very concerned and careful way, she asked questions that seemed to sink all the way down into my heart. 

“After talking to that leader and while attending some other events, Christ began to open my eyes. He allowed me to catch just a small glimpse of how selfish I really am. He allowed me to see how often I only seek my own selfish desires. He also showed me that I often focus on those around me and then compare myself to them: if I can ‘measure up’ or not, or if I am being more ‘Godly’ than them. 

“I began to understand that I should have my eyes on Jesus and be focused on Him alone! Jesus cares so deeply for me, and if my focus and my expectation are on Him alone, then I will never be disappointed or hurt because He is perfect and all that I need!”

That testimony reflects what makes Sound Foundations an exceptional instructional experience. The outflow of a consistent walk with the Lord flows forth from the instructors and leaders each day as they seamlessly weave Gospel living with quality musical instruction. 

Another student shared this testimony:

“As a piano major enrolled in a university . . . I am taking a Choral Arranging and Instrumentation class this fall. Because of the experience I had at Sound Foundations, the university course has been a ‘breeze,’ even though I had not taken the prerequisites to get into that class.”

Both spiritual growth and musical excellence combine in a harmonious theme of bringing glory to God in every area of their lives. One student recounted,

“I learned so much from the instructors and other students about how music should be properly created to glorify God.”
